Their first meeting is this Saturday:

"The volunteer meetings are designed to: (1) survey a cross-section of new web content for a next generation comprehensive web based resource about citizen engagement techniques, best practices, tool-kits, new innovative ideas and sources of past and new participatory democracy; (2) build a local and national network of regional coordinators and volunteers from the full cross-section of the community members, including teachers, students, non-profits, public officials, community activists, and mass media, etc. to participate in deliberative democracy forums, as well as other civic engagement activities to address local to international problems; (3) research sources of grants and engage individual donors to fund new and exciting local, national, and international citizen-based public policy forums. Ultimately, the work sets a foundation for teaching citizens to organize their own public forums, as well as our own efforts to increase the opportunities for dynamic and innovative participatory democracy."
