Happy Easter everyone. As a special treat for showing up on Easter Sunday, you get a
preview of the two general election maps that will start running tomorrow. The links to them
are below the main map above. Remember, in politics, a week is a long time. At best this is
a snapshot of where we are in the Februrary-March time frame (not all the state polls are that
recent) and a lot can change between now and the election. For example, Hillary Clinton is
beating McCain in Florida at the moment, but suppose John McCain counters this by choosing
Gov. Charlie Crist (R-FL) as Veep?
The surprise retirement of Bud Cramer (D) in AL-05 means the Republicans have a chance
to pick up a House seat in a year in which their congressional prospects look otherwise
bleak. But now the Democrats have recruited a candidate, state senator Parker Griffith, who closely matches the
incumbent in this northern Alabama district and it will be a real horse race.
The Republicans don't have a candidate yet.
No primary polls today.
